Roma Tenant Advice & Advocacy Service (QLD)

Do you need advice or information about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant?

The Tenant Advice & Advocacy Service (Q) provides free advice to help tenants understand and exercise their legal rights and responsibilities.  This service is funded by the Residential Tenancies Authority and the Department of Housing.

Aims of the Tenant Advice & Advocacy Service (Q):

To provide an advocacy service to residential tenants to ensure their tenancy rights are upheld through:

  •   The provision of information and advice on their rights and obligations under relevent legislation.
  •   The provision of resources such as documented information, standard letters and reports etc to enable tenants to pursue their rights.
  •   Assistance to tenants in negotiating with lessors and Real Estate Agents and in preparing for appearances in the Small Claims Tribunal.

TAAS (Q) provides information and advice to people in housing need, to assist them establish and/or maintain housing in the private rental market through:

  •   The development and maintenance of accommodation registers in the TAAS (Q) region.
  •   The provision of information  on appropriate forms of housing assistance.
  •   Assisting an enquirer to identify what services they need and providing the appropriate referrals to relevant government or community based services.

 

TAAS (Q) provides information on Tenancy Law which include:

  -   Tenancy Agreements

  -   Condition of the premises

  -   Right of entry

  -   Repairs/maintenance

  -   Terminating a tenancy

  -   Option for resolving tenancy disputes
